My 101 with Evenflo78

Today I got evenflo78 as a guest in mah blog!! *fangirlish squeeeee*
I think everyone knows her work. She writes in three different fandoms, and quite popular in all three of them. Southern Vampire Mysteries, Twilight and now True Blood.
Evenflo78 joined FanFiction around 2009 but she has been reading ff's long before that. It's been almost a year that she started writing in fanfiction and so far she has given us 19 wonderful stories.
I can talk about why I love this woman all day long *sigh*
I have a girl crush on her shhhhhh!!
So when I asked her if she would do this 'interview' with me. She got a little nervous but I promised I would only spank if she asked me so I had a fuckhawt session of tieing her down and having my way with her it was nothing at all. And she agreed!! *another squeeee*

Sooo how did you find SVM fandom?

I actually started watching True Blood during season 2, and immediately had to go out and buy the books. I knew if I liked the show then I'd love the books.
And I did.

How did you get introduced to the world of fanfiction?
Oh boy. I really don't remember how I came across the site in the first place. But I'm so glad I did.
I think that the first fanfic that I read was for Bones (the TV show on Fox), and I only read then. I never signed up. But I read all kinds after that. House M.D., Twilight, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean. Then, of course, after I started watching True Blood, I read a few of those. But again, I was just a reader. After finishing all the books is when I finally ran across the SVM section of fanfiction.

Do you remember which fanfic for SVM you read first?
Bones was the first I read, but I really don't remember any specifically. The first SVM I remember reading was Pour Some Sugar On Me by BonTempsBaby.
That's when I really fell in love with the fandom.

Was there any particular story in SVM fanfic that got you into writing SVM fandom?
I don't really think it was one in particular. But after I read Pour Some Sugar On Me, is when I signed up and finally did my part in reviewing. I read several really good stories – all Sookie/Eric, of course – and they all gave me the writing itch that just kept getting worse and worse.

Which are your favorite books? Other than SVM
I LOVE the Black Dagger Brotherhood books by JR Ward and The Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost. I'm also pretty in love with the Twilight Saga, and I'm one of the few that actually liked the last book despite the creepy baby thing. I wanted Jacob to have his HEA too.
I've read just about everything by Stephen King and James Patterson and am pretty addicted to Kathy Reichs as well.

o.O
Moving on…..

Tell us a little about
No Return.
What can I say about it? It was my first attempt at writing anything since probably High School, and I'm a little too scared to go back and read it now that I've been doing it for a while. (I don't even want to know how bad it is.) I knew I wanted to try writing, but I didn't know how to start. I'd always wanted to know what was going through Eric's mind during that scene in the books,
and it just sort of went from there.
Bad or good, it gave me the balls to start writing, and I truly love doing it.

Sookie's Secret  written for Eric & his great Pumpkin contest. What made you start this!
I wanted to write something hot and sexy, and I've always love costume parties. It started with the costumes for me. I found those, decided I wanted Sookie to be married and started typing.
There wasn't any rhyme or reason to my method during that story. And I honestly had no clue that it was going to end up being a daydream (or nightdream, as it were) until the very end.
I liked it all the way up until then, but that's when I fell in love with it.

Electric Cowboy is written for Cowboy-Up Contest. Tell us a little bit about that!

This story was one that was really close to my heart. I almost hate that I haven't went back and expanded on it more. I struggled to stay under the word limit with it because there was so much story I wanted to tell, and I had to leave out a lot that I wished I'd been able to put in it.
The diary/letter format was something I'd never seen before, but it allowed me to get in more information in fewer words. And yet, there was still so much more
I wanted to write. It's actually semi-based on my own true life events only slightly altered to fit the characters and theme. Now, I'm going to run and hide.

Resisting the urg to ask….and going like WOAHHHH!!

You also entered the Age Of Eric contest with
The Angel of Death. This story is based on Venice ~ Spring 1576 why there?

I really loved the movie Dangerous Beauty, which was set in Venice, so that was where I imagined them being. The time frame I had to alter to fit the story.
The Plague nearly destroyed the city during that time. There is just something to be said about the beauty of era's previous. When I wrote this one-shot, I didn't add a lot of period detail because it wasn't really about that to me.
I pictured the dirt trail through the woods. I smelled the stench of body odor and death, the rain, the trees. I saw it in my head like I was watching it on film and put it to paper.
Again, with this one, I was watching my word limit. This, however, is one I'll be extending in the future.

Looking forward to it.

Crazy With a Side of Meatballs for the Kiss A Cook contest. Would you like to tell us a little about that!

Well, everyone knows Eric is hot, right? Well, a chef Eric is even hotter to me. Hehe. I wrote that story around the taste testing scene. There is not much else more erotic than being fed.
I'm a sucker for food. What can I say?

Lol.

Becoming Mommy Promo fic for A New Chapter Contest *personally I have serious love for this story because you attempted on something completely new in this fandom*
Wanna share your thoughts on that?

That story has a special place in my heart too. I love Pam. Really, who doesn't? And I wanted her to have this special gift.
I couldn't picture her with anyone other than Sookie for this story, and even though it was short and to the point, I'm really happy with the way it came out.
We all have our prejudices. I know it, you know it, everyone knows it. But I don't feel that one should judge another over who they love. And love comes in all
way, shapes, forms, and packages.

True that.

Northman Towers is your first multi chaptered*I think* tell us a bit about that.

I'm not even sure what to say about that story. I've actually went back and read a few chapters of it and OMG, I made so many mistakes. I'm not saying it's bad, because I don't think it is, but it's not great. And it's riddled with errors. That story was only a general idea that grew and grew and grew. All I knew when I started was that Sookie was moving to a new apartment and starting a new job, and that Eric was going to be her boss and landlord. That's it.
I never had a plan for where it was going or what was going to happen. I just went with it. And when those reviews started coming in, I couldn't seem to stop. I just kept writing and posting, writing and posting.
It was a blast!

Dude it was a good story! Me loooooves it :D

Hershey's Kisses. How did you get started with this?

Ummm.... *shifty eyes. I wanted to write a lemon. Hehe. And I knew it was going to be a long time before I wrote one for Northman Towers. Because, let's face it, we all know how much I like to draw out the sex.
I never meant for it to be a full length story. It was my first attempt at a lemon and I was really, REALLY nervous about posting it. But I sucked it up and did it anyway.
The response was mind-boggling. I was literally blown away. So I just HAD to continue it.
Again, there was no plan with this story, it just sort of came about. Though, I'll admit, after about the 5th chapter I knew how most things were going to play out. There were a few bumps in the road along the way for them in that story, but it worked out in the end.

I see you started both stories in like four days apart. How did you manage on keeping them up?

I have NO clue. I really don't. I was posting a chapter a day back then for the most part, with the exception of weekends. But I updated one or the other everyday, Monday through Friday.
I wish I knew what I was doing then so I could repeat it now, but I can't figure it out. The only thing I do know is that my two year old keeps my writing schedule now. I write when she's not trying to run out the front door and through the parking lot, or feed the dogs food from the fridge, or climb on top of the oven so she can get in the cabinets to play with knives.
LMAO! I spend a lot of time chasing her out of stuff she shouldn't be into. A year ago she wasn't nearly as curious.
Maybe one of these days I can get back to writing like that again. I know I feel like the words are going to spill out of my head some days if I don't sit down and write, but I can't always do that.

Awwwww!

Right now you are juggling three stories at once,
Couples Therapy , Invoking Kismet and Instincts. How do you do this! I get alert in my box from all three of them at
least once a month!

Krismom has dubbed me the queen of plot juggling. I try and convince her that I'm fail at this, but she doesn't listen. Invoking Kismet is almost finished, and has been planned out for a while now to its end.

Couples Therapy just has a way of coming out of me. It's been planned too, but the plot line in it is a lot easier to keep up with.

Instincts has a very vague plot of sorts to it. I know some things I want to happen, but not all.
I guess, for me, it's pretty easy to turn off one set of characters and turn the other set on. I just sit down and do it. Sometimes I'll read a little from the previous chapter to get the tone set, but it usually flows from there.
Occasionally, I have a problem getting my head out of one story. But if that happens then I just have to go ahead and write that part out so I can get back to what I should be doing.
For the most part, I just do what I can. If it's not coming to me, I don't force it and I move on to something else that is working for me. I know that it will come to me when it's good and ready.
All in all, I struggle but am determined. My readers and their support make it all worth while. I don't deserve the love I get.

Congrats on winning the second place on Loving Bellsper Contest with your
Like Oil And Water. It is an interesting relationship development between Jasper
and Bella. NAO Who is the Native American? I have been dying to know that.

Bwahaha! Jacob! Duh! I actually had a few people question that, so I guess I wasn't as clear as I thought I was.
I really liked writing that fic. It was an emotional roller-coaster for me, and I think that it turned out that way for those that read it too.
I've wanted to write a Bella/Jasper story for a while now. (I actually have the beginnings of an AU story for those two planned after I finish Invoking Kismet) I'm sort of in love with Jackson. Even if he is a little skinny.

Jumps in to spam the interview with skinny Jackson!

I tried to capture how hard it would be to be totally in love with your gay best friend and put it to words, and was really excited that it tied for second.

Who isn’t? I want him in Edward’s mouth or 69 position. His kinny boy cock is very appealing.

The First Time is Edward/Bella fic. Also another twi multi chaptered. Tell us a bit about this.

This story broke my heart to write. I actually wrote it all out of order and almost backwards. It was the first story I've written that had an outline and specifically planned chapters.
Chapter 10 was the first one I wrote. Followed by 9, 7, 6, 5, 1, 2, 3, 4. It was all out of whack. Chapter 8 was actually written last and added to the story after it was completed.

Books, Bondage, & Betrayal written for Show Us Your Dark Side Contest. *fansself* tell us about that!!
I didn't want to write a typical story when it came to that one. And the threesome (of sorts) was not really your typical one. I had a lot of fun writing it and it was my first third person. Which was a lot harder than I thought it would be.
Even if it was a little apparent, the twist in the ending was my favorite part. And what else can I say? I love Edward... when he's with Jasper.
Just because...

Chubster 2 point 0 for FML contest. How did this contest exactly!
They sent us a prompt from the actual FML site and we had to write a story that led up to that prompt.
I'll be really honest. I kind of hated my prompt. It was a tough one to write for and it took me a long while to get something set in my mind that worked for me.
I had a lot of help and people bouncing ideas around with me for this one. Smfogleman, Missus T, Krismom. Everyone was really helpful.
I had fun writing the fic, for sure, because I put poor Edward through hell in that story.

Do you like writing canon or AU more?

Canon is a tricky thing. I tend to lean more towards AU or AH because it's more okay to get out of character there. And a lot of the stuff I write is out of character.
I'm trying to expand my horizons a bit and dabble into more canon and AU stuff in my writing. All human is safe and easier. I think its time for me to get out of my comfort zone.

How do you approach a new plot? Do you plan everything out to begin with, or do you just go with what the characters tell you?
I wish I could say that I planned everything out, but I don't.
I have a general idea of how I want it to go. I know the beginning, how I want it to end, and a few things I want to happen in the middle. But for the most part, I do what my characters tell me to do.
Sometimes they get off track and I have to bring them back to the story. (This has happened a lot in Couple's Therapy) But for the most part, I just do what they tell me to do. Yes, I am really crazy. There are voices in my head that speak to me. *giggles

You iz not crazy!! They really won’t shudup!!

All of your stories are very liked by your readers, did you ever get any harsh comment criticism from your reader?

I haven't really gotten any harsh comments. I've received a few constructive reviews and PM's, but not very many. I think I only got one semi-bad review and it just said that they weren't going to read my story anymore. I've been pretty luck, I guess. If they didn't like it then they kept it to themselves. I'm grateful for that. I don't think I'd handle being bashed very well.
I'm a sensitive little thing. :D

*snuggles* you is. *puggles*

I see ALLOT of mention of Krismom in your stories! How did you find such an awesome beta?

I know, right? She is amazing! And she wrote a story about Esme and her grown kids titled The Velveteen Mother that is just beautiful!
She actually contacted me about beta'ing. She noticed in one of my author's note's that I was looking for a beta and contacted me via PM. Even offered to go back and read chapters I'd posted previously. That's how friggin great she is!
I fear, at times, I over work her, but she never complains. I am truly grateful to have her.

Is sooo jealous right now!!

Do you have anything special while writing a chapter, like listen to special music, need total silence, eat…
Pfft. I have two kids. There is no such thing as total silence in my house. Mostly I just sit and write when I have the time. It's never uninterrupted. (Motherhood doesn't come with the amenity of alone time.)
Occasionally, I'll listen to the radio, but it's never anything specific, just some sort of background noise. Most of the time I'm writing to the sound of barking, and screeching, and “No, Kaitlyn, don't take your clothes off.” and Yo Gabba Gabba, or Playhouse Disney.

Bawhahahahahaha… wipes tears…

Do you have posting schedule? If so, what is it?
Well, I was sticking to my schedule pretty good for a while. But I haven't caught back up after the move yet. Oh hell, I'll just admit it. I'm bad at keeping my schedule.
I was updating Couples Therapy on Wednesday, Invoking Kismet on Monday, and Instincts on Friday, and I hope to get back to that very soon. That is if I can get my head and hands to cooperate and work together again.

What is your background in writing?
I don't have one really. I have just always loved writing. Since about 16, I've kept a journal of some sort that just housed my random scribblings, thoughts, or sometimes what actually happened during my day. But I've never done anything at all on a professional level.
I wish that I could. And maybe one of these days I will. I keep thinking and planning and wanting to write an original fiction with the intent of attempting to get it published, but I haven't actually done it yet.
One of these days I'll get over my insecurities and just go for it!

YOU SHOULD.

Which RL author inspires you?
I don't know that there is really one specifically that inspires me. There is good in every book as far as I'm concerned.

Did any FF authors inspire you towards writing your own fics?
I read several good stories before posting. I'm not really sure if there was one in specific that inspired me to post. I think I just held my breath and did it.
But after I posted my first, and got some positive feedback from a few reader, I wanted to do more.
I got involved a little in the forums. Suki59, Smeadows, fardareismai2, zigster... the list goes on and on. They were all great writers and I wanted to work up to that sort of writing. Even if I never made it. I at least wanted to try.

Which ff writers do you religiously read?
Oh gosh, that's a hard one. And a long list.
If I had my way, I'd read everyone's out there. And truthfully, I'm so behind on new fics right now it's not even funny.
Missus T, Scribeninja, Ms Construed, Youbettago, Fardareismai2, chicklette, Zigster, YogaGal, Venis Envy, Greenelemons, Miztrezboo, Conversed, EtheHunter, Smfogleman, seastarr08, a redhead thing, Krismom.... I could go on and on. These are all fantastic writers.

Who do you visualize (Eric, Sookie, Pam, Bill, Amelia, Jason) when you are writing?

I see Sookie as a cross between Scarlett Johannson and Amanda Seyfried, only a little older.
Eric is harder because I see him as Alexander Skarsgard, but from season 1 when his hair was longer and he was a little beefier. If that makes sense.
Pam I see Kristen. That's all there is to it. That's who she was in my head when I read her. I don't think they could have picked a better person for her. Same with Bill. Unfortunately for Stephen Moyer.
Sam was a perfect pick too except with more red in his hair. I'm not sure if that is from the books or from a fic I read, but I see him with reddish hair.
Jason *sigh, oh how I love that boy. Ryan Kwanten is equal parts adorable and hawt!!! I just wish he was a little taller.
Amelia is a wildcard. Sometimes I see her with wild curly hair, other times I see her with it shiny and straight. But when I write her, I tend to picture Milla Jovovich. I kinda have a girl crush on her.

Deffo the books. Always read that Sam had strawberry blond. But Sam works as Sam too.

Okay, I'm wondering, do you sometimes write on paper or do you always use your keyboard?

I'm a keyboard gal. I'm pretty sure the notepad app on my iphone counts as a keybpard too.
I've always got my phone nearby and if a line or something specific strikes me then I'll put it in my notepad so I don't forget. There's almost always some random line or twelve typed in there.
Right now there's one that says... Pam - van -“Ooh, breakfast.” (this is for Instincts)
There never complete. Just short bursts of thoughts or a line in dialogue I want to use.

If you had a date with Eric from any of the fictions (Vamp and Human both) in svm ffnet, which ones would it be and why?
I have no clue. I think I usually find at least one, if not multiple things, to love about ever Eric I've ever read.
Missus T writes a really good Eric in Halo Effect, So does EtheHunter in Growing New Vines. I don't think I even have to bring up House of Flesh on Fire by Fardareismai2 and how hot that Eric was. Or even nerdy Eric from Studybuddies by Scribeninja. It's pretty much impossible for me to make that decision.

If you met Askars what would you do?
Probably blush like crazy and do absolutely nothing. I'd WANT to ask for a picture or something, shake a hand, kiss a scruffy cheek, hell, anything. But... I probably wouldn't.
Truthfully, I just don't rightly know what the heck I'd do. I might just stand there and drool while giggling psychotically. Who knows?

I might accidently rub myself on him!
Any expectations from the season four of True Blood?

Not really. Is that bad? I just want amnesia Eric. I purely watch because I'm invested at this point.

Which character are you most looking forward to seeing on screen 4 in TB? And why?
Meh, I watch for Eric/Sookie scenes mostly anymore. I'm hoping to see what Alexander Skarsgard can do with the role of amnesia Eric. He's a pretty darn good actor.
Also... I love Jessica. Great addition to the storyline, even I can admit that.

If you were to give Eric another profession what would it be?
Eric the vampire or Eric the human?
Both
Eric the vampire I'd love to see as an attorney/exotic dancer. Bwahaha. Okay, I really have no clue. I'm just making something up.
Eric the human... so many ways that he could be hot. I love scribeninja's UPS Eric. YUM!!
Eric the character or Alex the actor?
If I could give Alex another profession, I'd make him work at my local Starbucks so I could see him everyday and drool over the gorgeousness. Hehe. Or maybe he could work in maintenance at my apartments. I could always find something that needs to be fixed.
Alright, now I'm just being silly. * next question *

snort
You write some very VERY very smexy lemons that I have read *makes me horney all the time* Want to tell us how you channel your inner horniness?
Ummm... I just see it in my head and write it out. I'd be lying if I said that writing lemons didn't affect me, so I won't. As far as I'm concerned, it's probably not a good lemon if I'm not a little hot around the collar by the time I'm finished.
Occasionally the husband and I play out a scene, or had played out a scene before and I'll use that as inspiration.
Not everything I write in my lemons comes from real life, but a lot of it does. I'm a pretty lucky lady.

Luckey man!

What do u prefer as the perfect place for Eric and Sookie to consummate?
What is this perfect place you speak of? I've never heard of such a thing!
Sex is perfect everywhere! In the kitchen, on the bed, in the bathroom, laundry room, backseat of a car, or up against the wall.
Maybe not all sex is great all the time, but sometimes its the unexpected places that are the hottest and most perfect for sex. In my opinion.

Here here.

Do you have any SVM rec’s for the readers that you think they should check out?
Any and everything written by the above mentioned authors is pretty much a must read.
Also, SouthernLady23, TrueBloodTwilight, Suaru-chan, ohfortuneslost, tjbaby, sunkisz, schafer, smittenskitten, alfacone10, makesmyheadspin, LubaDub ...
Oh gosh, just send me an e-mail or a PM and I'll rec a book worth of authors and stories that must be read. I feel like I'm leaving too many good and talented writers out.
I have a lot of love for all of the writers in the SVM fandom. Each and every one of them is talented in their own way. There are a lot of great fics in our fandom. We are a really lucky group.

*blushes*

Ten quickie question:
SVM fics or TWI fics? *more you read*
I think it might be pretty close as far as story alerts and stories I read on the regular. I've probably read more TWI fics if you count them all up. But there are six bajillion of the frigging things!

SVM readers or TWI readers?
Definitely SVM! Twi readers are hardcore, and they CAN get downright nasty if you don't do something they agree with or if you don't update on time.
Although I have to say, there are a good bunch of readers in the TWI fandom as well.

Eric or Edward?
Do you really have to ask that question? Eric, hands down, or cheeks up ;)

Edward or Emmett?
Emmett baby!!!

Couples Therapy or Instincts?
Is that a trick question?

Eric or Alex?
Well, I may pay hell for this, but Eric. Alex has the whole “I actually exist” thing going for him, and he's totally YUM. But... I picture Eric differently when I read him, more muscular. What can I say? I like 'em a little beefy.

Bella or Sookie?
I like them both for different reasons, but if I had to choose one. I guess I'd say Sookie. She's a little older, more real. I like her, I love her, I hate her at times.
That is what makes her a great character to read.

Emmett or Jasper?
Yes. Please. ;D
What both!! *snort*

Fav non canon couple from TWI?
Jasper or Emmett with anyone else. Or even together... just sayin'

Fav non canon couple from SVM?
Jason and Pam or Eric. I'm thinking about writing one of those when I'm done with Couples Therapy.

Anal or Oral! *giggles*
Oral! Definitely oral. Well, I occasionally like to read anal, but I sure as heck don't want to experience it. I am all about writing a good BJ scene on occasion.

From scafer, she has asked me to tell you that she thinks you are AMAIZING!
She is friggin amazing!!! One of the best, most supportive readers out there. For reals. I love her hard!

Anything else you would like to add?
I haven't talked about myself enough already? LMAO. No, I don't know of anything else that I could add. Unless you wanna know what color my panties are...
*winks*

My Interview With LinsayK aka scribeninja

So as you know I always get one fuxhawt author for my interviews today I got scribeninja aka LindsayK. So lets learn a little about LindsayK.
Linds been with ff since 2007 but she started writing for ff.net in 2009.
Now almost a year and a half later now Linds has given us 14 amazing stories for Southern Vampire Mysteries.
Linds has always added some drama, lemons, a lot of romance and a pinch of angst in her story, which is the perfect recipe for a great story.

Thanks Linds for agreeing to let me tie you up and be interviewed, I can only promise this is going to be long and long and very long interview and you will probably want to strangle me by the end.

Lets start first of all how did you get introduced to the world of fanfiction?
I believe the first fanfiction I ever read was Harry Potter, and it wasn’t on ff.net. I was younger then, so I didn’t really delve into it too much. I’m also pretty sure that what I came across was M-rated, so I was afraid of it. Years later I got into reading some Pirates of the Caribbean fanfic, and then I read some Supernatural fanfic for a while. But no Wincest. That’s gross.

Lols. Yes it is.

How did you find SVM fandom?
I found the SVM fandom through the IMDb True Blood message boards. Back when that place had sane people, all of us book fans… you know, before people harped about separating the show and the books. Anyway, someone started up a fanfiction thread and linked to a story. I started reading, and the rest is history.

Do you remember which fanfic for SVM you read first?
It was the story that was linked on that thread, and that story was Let Love In, by TerriBotta. It was the greatest of all the “talk fics” and gave us what Dead and Gone should have… an actual talk. I always recommend this story to anyone who’s just starting out in the fandom.

Was there any particular story in SVM fanfic that got you into writing SVM fandom?
Yes, it was Northman’s Off Rivington, by Zigster. It was the first All Human story in the fandom, and it pretty much paved the way for AH in SVM to become a normal thing.

Which are your favorite books? Other thanSVM.
I love the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost. I’m a big Harry Potter nerd, and I still love that series. The Forsyte Saga, by John Galsworthy. Mr. Darcy’s Diary by Amanda Grange, which I’ve read probably ten times. The Black Dagger Brotherhood books by JR Ward. And my all time favorite book from childhood, Ella Enchanted, by Gail Carson Levine, and please, please read the book rather than watch the movie on this one. The book is totally different, and way, way better.

Reminiscence was your first fic in ff.net what made you write this?
I wrote Reminiscence before I really started talking to the women on the forum in The Sookieverse. I had no idea what I was doing, no idea what a beta was, and it was just bad. I really don’t know why I still have that thing posted to be honest. The idea for it just popped into my head one day and I wrote the whole thing out in a couple of hours. I wanted Sookie to really come to the conclusion that she loved Eric and that he’d always been there for her, so I forced her into a situation where she wouldn’t see him for a while and made her think. It’s the only think I’ve ever written that’s vamp/canon.

It was really good. I know you are a more of a AH/AU shipper but I loved this one shot.

What Dreams May Come is your first multi chaptered story, what spurred you to write this?

What Dreams May Come started because of a ficlet game we played on the Northman Thread in The Sookieverse on ff.net. Basically, you went to an online word generator, got a word, and then tried to write a ficlet, which is like a drabble, either using that word, or inspired by that word. I got the word ‘dream’ and after thinking for a few minutes, and then staring out my bedroom window at the field on our property, an idea came to me. I had recently watched Pride and Prejudice (’05 film version) and the scene where Elizabeth and Darcy meet at the end in the field as the sun comes up was one of my favorites. So I imagined Sookie and Eric meeting in my own field in a dream and started writing.
After I had a few bits of it done and shared with the ladies on the thread, they told me I ought to turn it into a full-blown story. I got hooked up with the queen of angst, FarDareisMai2, to beta my fluffy, happy fic, and that’s that.

Preludes and Presumptions it’s a joint collaboration of you Zigster and alsoGuest starring DCWriter16 and Yogagal. How did you gals come up with it?
Oh man *sigh*… This story was born for a couple reasons. The first was that a mutual friend of mine and Zigs from our IMDb days, Annie, wanted us to write a collaboration and be awesome. She’s very, very persistent, so we started talking to another girl from those days, Alison. Over the course of a few hours we all plotted out what became Preludes and Presumptions, an AH SVM take on Pride and Prejudice, complete with rich kids, yachts, and France in the summer.
Obviously, this thing is never going to get finished, but I assure you, it had quite the romantic plot, and would have been awesome if Zigs and I weren’t such awful procrastinators.

*cough* I am still waiting for an update *cough*
Moving on

Studybuddies is one of my fav Eric’s and you just completed this story last month, what inspired you to write this in the first place?

Studybuddies is my little one-hit wonder. It was also born of the ficlet game when I got the word ‘library.’ I actually only wrote one little bit of it at first, and when I tried to write the second part, which includes the first time they kiss (up against the bookshelves, hehe) I got stalled. The thing sat in a word document in a folder for months. I hit a block with Dreams, and opened it up again. Zigs helped me get through the kiss, and then it all just came pouring out of me. I think I wrote like five parts of it in a day.
I posted on the forum as I was writing it that I was pretty sure this Eric was telling me he was a virgin, and the ladies there pounced all over that. They said I had to do it, and turn it into a full story, so I did. It was pretty popular, pretty fast, and I kind of dragged it out at the end, but I’m very proud of it. It was my own ‘first’ thing. I made the first Virgin!Eric, lol.

I do love me some Virgin!Eric. *snort*

Graveyard of Good Intentions was a one-shot for Eric & His Great Pumpkin contest, and based on this you wrote two more wonderful stories. Tell us about this one.

The original idea for this was that I wanted to see Eric and Sookie together on Halloween through the years. I saw them as little kids, Eric as Thor and Sookie as Tinkerbell, which was obviously a play on a Viking and a Fairy. I wrote most of the plot out on a post it note as it came into my head, and then I expanded on it organically as I wrote. It got bigger, and bigger, and I ended up having to cut something like 900 words from the final product so it was eligible for the contest.
It was the first thing I did that I didn’t have my regular beta on since she was judging for the contest, and ironically it was also the first time I wrote real angst. I kind of wanted to explore the whole angle of soulmates finding each other when they’re little, but not really knowing it until later, and then having the teenage angst in their lives screw things up.

Following that Graveyard of Good Intentions: Redux which was mainly based on Eric’s pov so how did you plan this out?
I decided to write the redux at first because I wanted to include some of the things I had to cut out of the one-shot. The original plan was just to write the one-shot over from Eric’s POV, but as I wrote I realized that he had a lot more to say than I thought, so it turned into an expansion instead.
Now, expansions are extremely hard to write. At least for me it was. I couldn’t figure out where to start, and it took me almost two months to actually get going on it, and even then it was because of the butt kicking Sunkisz did. I talked to her a lot about the plot, and she managed to convince me that Eric wouldn’t have slept with Pam like Sookie thought he had through the whole original. Even as I began this expansion, I had still fully planned on Eric having had sex with Pam. Sunkisz talked me through it and made me look at the story from a different angle, and I think the fact that he doesn’t in this actually makes it more angsty on his side of things.
From that point, I just expanded on events in the one-shot, and then added onto the end so we got more resolution for the couple. This is by far one of the stories I am most proud of. I feel like it’s got a strong beginning, middle, and end, none of which dragged on. It’s also one of my favorite Eric’s :)

NowCandle in the Window is the third/second series to Graveyard of Good Intentions, would you like to share some insights about this?

Candle in the Window was something I wanted to write because I desperately wanted to see a strong couple who didn’t fall apart or stop trusting each other. Sometimes when I start a story, it’s just one scene that pops into my head, and my mind revolves around that for a while until I see a whole story plot emerge. The scene for this story was Eric in a hospital bed, and a very attractive woman crying about them being together, and how much she loved him. Then I saw Sookie come in and tell the woman off, calling her crazy and forcing her to leave. She did this, not because she wanted the ‘other woman’ away, but because she trusted Eric completely, and there was not even a sliver of doubt in her mind that he would cheat on her. That really attracted me to the story because at that time I had been reading a lot of stories where there was miscommunication, and the couples were all doubting each other and making things worse by not talking and assuming they knew what the other was doing/feeling. I wanted to see what would happen if I did that to these two, who have been together so long, and love and trust each other so much that they wouldn’t allow something like miscommunication to even fray them at their seams.

Never Say Never has a slightly different kind of Eric, how did you picture him when you started writing this?

Well, Never Say Never began because of a video I watched on youtube. It was set up in a way that made it seem like Bill was abusing Sookie, and that Eric was always there for her, always sat by and watched her go back to him until he couldn’t take it anymore and snapped on Bill. Even after that, Sookie stays with Bill until he proposes and she panics, realizing how wrong that is and goes to Eric for good at the end. This all hit a nerve with me because in High School I had to watch my best friend be in an abusive relationship for four years, and she didn’t have an Eric to go to.
I used the experience of watching my friend go through what she did, and applied it realistically to this story. The amount of women that have contacted me through this story to tell of their own experiences astounds me, and I can only hope that reading about Sookie being able to find something better, and not settling for abuse helped them.
And I got off track, lol. Back to Eric, I wanted him to be the best person I could make him so that he was a stark contrast to Bill. Maybe that’s unrealistic, but I very much saw my friend as Sookie, and I wanted to give her a good Eric. So I made him a stand-up guy. He was smart, kind, chaste, loving, sexy, funny, caring, protective… everything I wish all the women in the world who have been through abuse had.

It was one of the best Eric I have read and I am sure you have helped a lot of woman through this story.

The Ribbon it was an entry for The Naughty or Nice One-Shot Contest, what inspired you to write this?

A couple of things inspired The Ribbon. One was an old movie based on a Kenny Rogers song called, “Coward of the County.” In this movie, there’s a Christmas carnival during which all the townspeople find out about Pearl Harbor being attacked. I wanted to put Eric and Sookie in that scene. The second thing was the mini-series Band of Brothers, which followed Easy Company, a paratrooper regiment, through their European campaign during WWII.
I’m really interested in that time period, and the more innocent nature of everything. I wanted to see what Eric and Sookie would do if Eric had to go off to war, and then what would happen if, when he came back, he got amnesia before he could see her again. It was the first and only time I’ve ever done the amnesia twist in a story, and I really love the way it turned out. This is another one of my stories that I’m extremely proud of.

My Last First Date is an Alcide/Sookie fic, why did you start writing about these two?

I started writing My Last First Date because I fell in love with the Alcide I wrote in the Graveyard Redux. I think we were all on twitter one night, and Krismom and I were talking about Alcide, and I told her I would write a one-shot for her that was Alcide/Sookie. It took me about three days to get it out, and it became what is now the first chapter of this story. Readers seemed to like it and wanted more, so I plotted out the rest with Gallathea, and she helped me include a lot of book parallels that make the story more meaty. I’m really excited to get this whole thing out there.

Sign Here followed by Sign There star a Sookie who can’t seem to stop shopping online just to get UPS Eric to Deliver in her doorstep, tell us about that.

Hahaha! This started because, I think it was Lubadub, had come up with this formula. That if you just give Eric and Sookie random careers and make them screw, it equals a successful story. Then we all started talking about the different professions you could put Eric in, and UPS delivery man popped up. I claimed it and started writing what was supposed to be a PWP? story. As I wrote, it started developing a plot that I couldn’t stop, and eventually the one-shot was 30 pages long. I broke it down into 6 chapters and Sign Here was born. A while later I wanted to see it all from Eric’s POV, so I wrote Sign There so everyone could see what was going through his mind, which was quite different than the things Sookie was thinking.

Your latest fic For The One I love is a bit Eric/Sookie and Alcide/Sookie with a lot of angst, *sniff* tell me about that while I get my tissue!
This story actually came about because of a guy I work with. He’s been in a relationship with the same girl for five years, and she lives with him at his parent’s house. Recently, he’s been flirting with another girl we work with and he opened up to me a bit about the situation. He said he would never cheat, but he was having a hard time figuring out whether he was just staying with his girlfriend because they’ve been together so long, or if he really wanted it to last. In the end, he decided that what he had with his girlfriend was good, and meant more than a string of flings would.
That got me thinking about what would have happened if the guy decided to end it with the girlfriend. Then some bits of this story started popping into my head, and it formed into something that I knew I had to write.
It was the first time I tried out 3rd person POV, so I looked at it as a writing exercise of sorts. Not only in POV, but in angst. I knew it could become very melodramatic very easily, so it was a challenge to make it plausible, and real, and I think I did well with that.

You did awesome and I loved it.

Do you like writing canon or AU more?
AH/AU definitely. Canon comes with its own rules and structure in place, and I find that kind of scary. With AH, I can make the characters as OOC as I want and still write a good story.

How do you approach a new plot? Do you plan everything out to begin with, or do you just go with what the characters tell you?
I’ve done this almost every which way you can. I’ve written a whole story organically, letting it come to me as I go, and with Dreams, that turned out beautifully. Everything came together at the end. I wrote organically with Studybuddies too, and it had a different effect. I had Never Say Never plotted out before I started writing, but towards the end I realized it had developed differently than it was plotted, so I changed the ending. I have a couple of new ones now that I’m going to plot out completely before I start writing, and I’m also going to write all of them before posting. The one I’m plotting now features an Amish Eric and Sookie. Should be interesting.

Have been seeing a lot of tweets from you about Amish Eric and Sookie lately, so Amish!! I am a bit curious about this, care to give the reader some teaser or just an idea about of this story?
Unfortunately, I don’t have any of the actual story written, so I can’t tease, but I’d be happy to tell you about it!
This idea has actually been festering in my brain for a long time. Since last August or September, I think. Basically, it sprung from my annoyance of the ignorance most people possess of the Amish religion and culture. My father was raised Mennonite, and his parents were brought up Amish, so I’ve always been around the culture and had a good understanding of it. I want to write this story so I can educate and inform people on the religions.
Basically, the plot will deal with a Sookie and Eric that were both raised in an old-order Amish community, the kind that still practices shunning. The story will include what really happens during a Rumspringa. Eric has already started his Rumspringa, and chosen to leave the church. Sookie starts hers almost a year later and goes to stay with her brother for a couple of weeks in the beginning of it. (actualRumspringa lasts years) She encounters Eric rather quickly (they were both sweet on each other, and still are) and Eric, Jason, and his new family help Sookie see the English world in a new light, and see some of the hypocrisy of certain people in the Amish religion, as well as in mainstream religions.
Ultimately, I don’t want to vilify any religion, and just show what I believe, which is that each person should find his or her own spiritual happiness, and be at peace with it.

I am really looking forward to reading this.

Now, did you get any harsh reviews or criticism? If yes how did you handle it? Did it effect your writing?
I have received harsh reviews, but mostly it’s flaming, not actual critique on the writing. The flaming bugs me, because I don’t get why someone would want to be hateful, but thankfully that only happened a couple of times when I first started.
I got a concrit review for my angst in Studybuddies that told me it was overdone. She didn’t really give reasons though, but after reading it again I kind of agree with her so it didn’t bug me much.
I understand that everyone has their own opinion, and that I can’t please everyone. I also get that the ones who aren’t pleased don’t have to just take their thoughts elsewhere. If a reader wants to tell me they didn’t like something, I invite them to do so, but to do it in a constructive way. Give me reasons for why something bugged you, and we can talk about it. None of us will get any better if we don’t know what we’re doing wrong.

Do you have anything special while writing a chapter, like listen to special music, need total silence, eat…
I prefer total silence. Music distracts me most of the time, but I occasionally listen to it while writing. I can have the TV on, but I like it on mute.

Do you have posting schedule? If so, what is it?
Oh boy, posting schedules! Yeah, I fail at this. I’m a big procrastinator and the only way I can keep a posting schedule is if the story is complete before I post. I was able to do that with Sign Here/There, and posted a chapter a day. I say more power to the people that are able to keep a schedule, but I just can’t do it.

You are also a judge in The Age Of Eric Contest. Are you looking for anything particular from the writers?

On top of all the criteria we have, I’m looking for a good story. To me, that means a story that will stick with you after long after you’ve read it. If I find myself at work thinking of a story, that’s a good indicator to me that it was told well. Good storytelling makes it stick in your head.

What is your background in writing?
I was in Journalism all through high school, and through that I wrote newspaper articles and spotlights on senior students. Fanfic is the first time I’ve written actual stories.

Which RL author inspires you?
JeanieneFrost, because she took vamps and made them her own in a way and knows how to write a kick ass, strong female lead, and a strong romance that lasts through her series.

I guess I know what I am reading next.

Did any FF authors inspire you towards writing your own fics?
TerriBotta definitely did because I want to be able to describe a setting and put readers right in there as well as she does. My beta love FarDareisMai2, because she writes really good angst and makes no apologies for it. Zigster, because she opened the door to AH fanfic in the SVM world, and can create some amazing original characters like the Hellcat brothers.Makesmyheadspin because her stories suck you in right off the bat, and she writes like a maniac!

Which ff writers do you religiously read?

Who do you visualize (Eric, Sookie, Pam, Bill, Amelia, Jason) when you are writing?
For Eric and Sookie, I see who I saw when I read the books. They are totally in my head. Pam, I see as Kristin Bauer Van Straten, and Bill is Stephen Moyer, only about ten years younger. Amelia and Tray are both in my head. Jason is Ryan Kwanten, I think they got that spot on for the show.

Okay, I'm wondering, do you sometimes write on paper or do you always use your keyboard?
I sometimes plot on paper. I have a little moleskin notebook that I write all kinds of things in, and if I’m not near my computer I’ll write things that come into my head in it. Everything else is done on the computer though.
If you had a date with Eric from any of the fictions (Vamp and Human both) in svmffnet, which ones would it be and why? *and yes you can pick more than one*
Oh hell, this is really hard. I’ll pick one human and one vamp.
Vamp Eric – Probably the Eric from Dead To My World. He’s very canon, yet more awesome, if that makes any sense. I just love him.
Human Eric – Shit, this is hard. I’m such an AH story lover. Um… Fuck. You know, I was thinking about this fic the other day, so I’m gonna go with Private Investigator Eric from Gallathea’s Noir fic, I Concentrate On You. It’s not finished, but damn she’s a great writer, and what little there is made a big impression on me.

God I miss Investigator Eric. *sigh*

If you met ASkars what would you do?
Well, I don’t think I’d ask for his autograph just because I don’t really see the point of that, and I hate having my picture taken so I wouldn’t ask for one of those either. I’d say that if the situation was right, I would say hello and tell him how much I loved his performance in Generation Kill. I figure he hears enough fangirl “OMG ERIC FROM TRUE BLOOD!” crap, and his GK performance is truly my favorite.

ROFL.

What would you do if you met Joe?
Probably the same, but thank him for bringing the Alcide I saw in the books to life on the screen.

Now I know there aren’t many Alcide fics in the fandom but if you had a date with Alcide from fictions, which ones would it be and why?
Hands down, the Alcide from The Heat is in The Tools by misconstrued. He is just so friggin UNF.
A very close second is the Alcide from SlackerDee’s FBI fic Secrets That Kill, and then I would date my own Alcide from my new one-shot For The One I Love, because he’s perfect.

What is the one thing that you wish that Sookie would do in this season of TB?
Grow. A. Brain. I’m so sick of her being just downright dumb about everything. She doesn’t make the connection between Bill explaining what Eric’s blood would do to her and how much she had of Bill’s. She probably won’t call him out on that file he has of info on her. The girl cut open her own wrist for a drained vampire… Can you get any dumber? I really don’t even feel sorry for her that she got drained. The girl is an idiot.
I also wish she and all the crazy Bill fans would learn the difference between true love and first love.

Here here.Moving on…

Which character are you most looking forward to seeing more on screen in TB? And why?
Alcide. Just because they haven’t completely screwed up his character yet, and he’s simply wonderful to look at.

*Fangirlie squee* yes he is *giggles*

So far you have written about a writer Eric, NFL Player E, geeky Eric and my fav UPS Eric.
NOW If you were to give Eric another profession what would it be?
Well, this may be cheating, but I just wrote about a mechanic Eric in a one-shot I just posted, and am plotting out one where he’s a formerly Amish construction worker. Then there’s another where he’s just a club owner posing as a vampire that will be awesome if I ever get around to writing it.

Just hold on a minute as in Eric’s a human BUT he is posing as a Vampire!!
Oh yes. I don’t want to give too much away about this one since I’m still far away from writing it, but it will be really great and different from anything I’ve written or read.

Where do you prefer as the perfect place for Eric and Sookie to consummate? *grins*
I’m pretty sure all mine have consummated in a bed, which is perfect for it, but my favorite would have been in Preludes and Presumptions. In a stuck Eiffel Tower elevator during a thunderstorm. Wait… why are we not writing this story anymore? Zigs? Bueller?

WOAH!!! In Effel Tower elevator!! Yes why aren’t you guys writing this?
LOL! Good question! Honestly, I think we wrote out a great plot, but right after we posted that first chapter, we both got caught up in our own stories and lost the inspiration. That first chapter is really great, but I wish we’d finished the whole thing before posting now though.

Do you have any SVM rec’s for the readers that you think they should check out?
It’s Your Song by Slacker Dee – I’m lucky enough to be betaing this story, and let me tell you, it’s one hell of an emotional ride.
Hot For Teacher, Always For You, The Vampire’s Assistant and everything else by Makesmyheadspin–This girl has a knack for sucking you in with great characters, and amazing plots.
For more recs, I’d check out the recommendations thread at The Sookieverse on FF.net, and also look at sapfirerose’s awesome blog. It’s full of great recs.

Anything else you would like to add?
This fandom is awesome, and really a big blessing. I love that there’s no drama in it, and that everyone is really supportive of each other.
I also just want to stress that reviews are not everything. This is a hard lesson that I still haven’t fully learned, but a very wise girl told me the other day “me and my 6 reviews are damn proud of that story.” (Paraphrasing, sorry chiisai-kitty) You have to love what you post, and write it for yourself, not for what you hope will get the most reviews. And remember that reviews don’t equal success. As I said, I’m still learning this lesson, but I hope one day I don’t get bummed every time I don’t get the reaction I wish I did, and be thankful that I was able to be happy with what I posted.

Nothing is impossible to beatlechicksteph

Southern Vampire Mysteries is a growing fanfiction site on ff and other fanfiction sites as well. Today when I checked the main page of SVM fics I was like WOAH!!! 74 pages!
So many wonderful writers contribute their work in this fandom it was really overwhelming. I am so proud. *wipes tears*
One of these wonderful writer, beatlechicksteph has been with fanfiction since 2003. She has written 4 stories for Southern Vampire Mysteries and agreed to be interviewed by mio.
She is an excellent writer, she writes what she knows beautifully. Mostly she brings out historical events and places. Her stories, one shot or malti chaptered they are full of facts and research.
Recently she has started  writing a malti chaptered story Do Something That Scares You Everyday. If you haven't read it yet, you definitely should. A history professor Eric is just the right way to make you melt. And he has an active fascination with Alexander The Great. This Eric definitely makes you smile and giggle with his ninga sword skills. *giggles*
She has recently entered in The Age Of Eric's contest and she is also an honorable judge in the 7DeadlySinsContest
Thanks Steph for doing this with me, I am sure I will be a pain in the ass for you. Now lets begin.......

With love from Lubadub

Southern Vampire Mysteries fandom is one of the most populer fandoms in fanfiction and I am very proud to be a part of this place. I have met some incredible people in here.
I am a complete fangirl when it comes to SVM. I read like crazy. I met Lubadub through her story Danger Is Dame but got to know her more through her vulgar tweets in twitter.
Lubadub has written 7 stories for Southern Vampire Mysteries and 1 for Night huntress.
She writes amazing smuts, hysterical scene that sometimes makes me fall off my chair. I am not kidding, really she does.
Through her first story Danger, Lubadub introduced us to a new side of Eric. Author and a kindda detective as well. Being a New Yorker herself this story very eloquently told by her. This leads up to another series called Danger In Dixie where we head to Bon Temps with the Danger gang.
Playing with Eric’s profession is her favorite part I think. She made him an author now it’s time to meet the Pilot. Gawd that gets my panties in twist every time! Hot and steamy with some very very dirty lemons. UNF
We interview and torture people to death with our questions. Well you all know that. This time this amazing author of Danger series and my favorite Terminal Attraction, Lubadub agreed to do this interview with Moi.
Thanks for agreeing to be interviewed Lub. I promise I’ll make this as painless and enjoyable as possible.
First of all, How did you found SVM fandom?
I became a hardcore member of Team Eric during Season 2 of True Blood. During a search for more pictures, I came across EricNorthman.net. I started reading through the fanfiction archives there. I eventually moved on to fanfiction.net. I started reading True Blood stories and didn't really enjoy a lot of them. I had started reading the Southern Vampire Mystery books and thought I'd venture over to that listing. I was hooked instantly.
How did you get introduced to the world of fanfiction?
I wrote a little fanfiction in high school. I won't say under what username and what fandom, but I will say it's on fanfiction.net. I wrote with a group of friends and stopped writing when I stopped hanging out with them. I used to read it obsessively, stopping when I fell out of love with that fandom. I didn't start back up again until last summer, when I discovered SVM.
Do you remember which fanfic for SVM you read first?
Like I said, I read a bunch of crap before I got into the good stuff. The first really good stories I read are Let Love In by Terri Botta and House of Flesh on Fire by FarDareisMai2. They're the stand out pieces. I can't remember which I read first, but I knew they sucked me in.
Was there any particular story in SVM fanfic that got you into writing SVM fandom?
I wouldn't say there's one story in particular that got me into writing. I had the idea for Dame, but was scared to write it. I started to notice a trend in some authors' notes, they would give shout outs to their friends, who were also authors on the site. I saw that there was a group of authors who all seemed to be friends, and thought that if people on the site were that friendly with each other, they weren't going to condemn me for crappy writing. I lucked out, and my first piece was a big hit! I got reviews from my favorite authors and had a total fan girl moment.
Which are your favorite books? Other than SVM
The first series of books that I really fell in love with were the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. I watched Interview with a Vampire and fell in love with the genre. After I finished those books in high school, I stopped being as avid a reader as I used to be. When I graduated from college last summer, I had time on my hands and decided it was time I start reading again. That's when I got into SVM.
Someone on twitter sent me the Night Huntress Books, which I quickly became addicted to. I think that Cat and Bones are what Sookie and Eric could be if Sookie got her head out of her ass about their relationship. Cat is the perfect female lead; she's strong, independent, and head over heels in love!! I just started reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood series of books, which I am currently devouring!! I love how damaged the Brothers are, and how complete they feel once they find their shellan (wife). All of which are vampire series; I have a soft spot in my heart for bloodsuckers.
Danger is Dame is one of your first multi chap AH story, did you have the whole story sorted out when you started writing?
Dame is my very first piece of writing in the SVM universe. The idea of the grieving author came to me in a dream one night. I left it alone, terrified that I wouldn't be able to put the words together right. It kept coming back, each time adding details, eventually finding Sookie's place in the story.
I didn't have an ending in mind with Dame when it first. When I come up with an idea, the ending is never part of the initial package. I let the story develop organically; taking the direction it wants to go in. I knew that the book would be published, the movie released, and Eric and Sookie would end up together. The rest came together during the writing process.
‘Danger’ has a series, ‘Danger in Dixie’, do you have the ending planned for that?
Oh Dixie. Dixie and I went through a rough patch a few months ago where I hated it. I sat down with A Redhead Thing and my beta, chiisai-kitty and worked out what I didn't like and how I could fix it. I was so hung up on Bon Temps that I lost sight of the story. That's when things moved back to New York and I fell back in love. We got an outline together, which does not officially have an ending. I have an idea of how Dixie will end; the book will be published, the movie released, and Eric and Sookie end up together. *wink*
Are you planning on writing a third multi chapter series in the Danger installment?
As of right now, I think after Dixie wraps up, things will be on pretty solid ground. There will be a HEA (happily ever after) and all loose ends will be wrapped up with a big red bow. Dame was twenty chapters long, and Dixie looks like it will be the same length. For me, forty chapters, plus my Valentine's Day one shot, are enough. I won't rule out future one shots since the author and his muse are so much fun to play with, but I doubt another multi chapter will happen.
What it Means to Forget is a what if story, any reason in particular that inspired you to write it?
There are a ton of What If stories, but when I had the idea for Eric to not get his memories back, I saw that it hadn't been done yet in the way that I wanted to explore. It was a lot of fun to tackle a canon fic, since I hadn't tried that yet. WIMTF was my second SVM story, so I thought a canon fic would be fun to try. I like being challenged in my writing; attempting things I didn't think I could do in the first place.
Dear Pam is basically posted on EN.net. How is the response in that website?
Other websites do not have the same reviewing culture that fanfiction.net has. I get very few reviews there, and on other sites where I post, but nothing like what comes in on fanfiction.net. I would love to post Dear Pam on fanfiction.net but since it's an interactive story, it's against the posting guidelines. I do have questions sitting in a document, waiting to be answered, I just haven't had the snarky motivation to get them done. There will be another installment of this story, I assure you!
Comic Con Connections is a Support Stacie winner, for CatieMak, so how did the idea came up for this story?
I'll explain a little about Support Stacie since I feel a lot of readers might not know about it. Support Stacie is a group that is raising money for a writer with cancer who doesn't have health insurance. The last Support Stacie auction was the first I was a part of. CatieMak bought my talents and gave me the plot. We e-mailed each other back and forth a few times to hammer out the details and then the first chapter of Comic Con Connections came together. She wanted them to meet at Comic Con and not like each other. The rest just flowed! After receiving such a positive review response, I decided to continue it with a few more chapters. I don't think it has many more to go until it's complete.
I had a second fic come out of Support Stacie, a Terminal Attraction outtake called Long Haul, which was bought by SMG528. Just wanted to give that one a little shout out too!
Now Terminal Attraction is something I look forward to reading when you update. It started out to be an one shot, why did you decide to make it multi chaptered?
Oh, Terminal Attraction. TA was where I found my sweet spot as a writer, smutty comedy. Like I said in the author's note in the first chapter, TA started when seastarr08 mentioned that a Pilot/Stewardess fic would be fuckhot when she saw adorable flight attendants on a trip. She didn't have the time to write it herself, so she proposed it to the twitterverse. Everyone loved it, but no one wanted to pick up another story. I was in the shower, and had the idea that Sookie and Eric would get caught in the airport one night and fuck. I had just started Dixie, was trying to wrap up WIMTF and had no intention of starting another story. Well... we see how well that turned out. I had so much fun writing it, and so many people loved it, I couldn't help but write another chapter. The Pilot totally wooed me, with his smooth talking and overt sexuality. He's so much fun to write.
TA was also my first attempt at writing slash; an April Fool's Day prank coordinated by myself, seastarr08 and A Redhead Thing. Now THAT was fun!
Yes It was.
Do you like writing canon or AU more?
I'll admit, I hate writing in canon. That's not to say that I didn't love WIMTF, but having to follow the rules that canon dictates is a pain in the ass. I love the freedom that AU/AH stories allow. I did write a canon piece for the Night Huntress series, Lessons in Lust, but doubt I'll ever venture that way for SVM again.
How do you approach a new plot? Do you plan everything out to begin with, or do you just go with what the characters tell you?
Like I said before, I am a firm believer in letting things come together. If Dixie and I didn't get into that big fight we had, I doubt I would have ever outlined it. Even the outline I have has very little detail, and I've altered things from that outline over the course of writing the chapters. I do what the characters tell me to do.
Chiisai-kitty developed Lubadub's Formula (titled such since I'm a math education major) for Fanfiction. Eric and Sookie are (choose a profession) and fuck. It's worked in the past, and will work on my next fic planned after Dixie. I keep it really general in the beginning so I can let it develop as it wants.
All of your stories are very liked by your readers, did you ever get any harsh comment criticism from your reader?
Oh man, nasty reviews make me cry. I've only had two chapters get bashed by readers. The first was chapter six of Dame, where Sookie and Eric are on their first date at Merlotte's. They get into a fight and Eric gets all angsty again, running away from reality. Reviews hated it! They were very judgmental of Sookie's actions, thinking she overreacted (which she did, but she's our little hardheaded waitress) and not approving of the decision at all. In the next chapter, I wrote in the author's note about my anguish over giving the readers what they want as compared to what I had planned.
As much as getting bad reviews sucked, it was a great learning experience. I learned how amazing this fandom could be. I got a review for chapter seven from Kyss Ericsson (aka LilBooth2 on twitter) telling me to ignore the naysayers and keep true to myself. Her kind words really changed the way I looked at things. She gave me the pep talk, and the kick in the ass, that I needed.
I honestly don't remember what the second offense was, but I'm pretty sure it happened in WIMTF. By this time, twitter had become really popular with the writers, and I had a place to go to vent. All of the ladies there were amazingly supportive, sharing their stories of craptastic reviews. It showed me that even writers that I looked up to had their fair share of bad days.
Do you have anything special while writing a chapter, like listen to special music, need total silence, eat…
I usually write with the television playing in the background. It's usually not something I'm too interested in, just noise. There are times when I like having total silence, but I never mind a little chatter in the background.
Do you have posting schedule? If so, what is it?
Oh, posting schedules. I'd like to think I have a schedule, but then something goes wrong and I get all mixed up. I was doing really well with TA posting every Saturday, and then alternating it with CCC but then finals reared their ugly heads and everything went to hell. I'm still not on track. When I started reading the BDB, I lost all desire to write. I'm in the middle of working on a chapter of TA and am completely blocked up! I'll get on schedule eventually, I hope.
What is your background in writing?
I have no professional training. I'm a math education major, so I have some training on formal writing through my education courses. I write because I love it.
Which RL author inspires you??
I'm not the biggest reader, so I wouldn't say that any author inspires my writing. I do love the natural flow that Jeaniene Frost's (the author of the Night Huntress series) books. She has a great talent for words.
Did any FF authors inspire you towards writing your own fics?
I think that Missus T is an amazing storyteller with a knack for making me hysterically cry and laugh in the same chapter. Seastarr08 is my fanfiction soulmate. We've collaborated on two chapters so far; our writing styles gel so well together. Plus, she's an amazing writer!
When it comes to aspiring me to write, I think that when I was contemplating writing Dame, I saw that other authors on the site were just normal girls like me who wanted to get their feet wet in the writing world. It was intimidating to post for the first time, but I got the feeling that I wasn't the only person who felt that. There is a tremendous comradery between the authors in our fandom, which is highlighted by our interactions on twitter.
Which ff writers do you religiously read?
Anytime I see the name Ericizmine in my inbox, I stop what I'm doing and open the page. I have always been the type of person to read an update as soon as it hits my box, no matter the author, but recently the BDB boys have been distracting. Luckily, I'm about to start the most recently published book, so I'll have time to devote to my fanfiction addiction and writing habits once again.
Who do you visualize (Eric, Sookie, Pam, Bill, Amelia, Jason) when you are writing?
I don't visualize a face/body/actor so much as hear a voice. I let dialogue roll around in my head so I can find the right words and pick up the right flow. The one voice that is always loud and clear in my head is Kristin Bauer van Straten aka Pam. I love her accent so much!! I usually hear Alexander Skarsgard as Eric, but a generic Southern accent for Sookie.
Okay, I'm wondering, do you sometimes write on paper or do you always use your keyboard?
The only thing I have ever written on paper was one of my Dead Pan entries. I got to one of my classes ridiculously early and had about 20 minutes to kill. I ended up writing a rough draft of it in that time, and my hand was killing me for the rest of class! I do 99% of my writing on the computer.
If you had a date with Eric from any of the fictions (Vamp and Human both) in svm ffnet, which ones would it be and why?
I swoon hardcore for Missus T's Marine Corps Eric in Leap of Faith. I have a weakness for a man in uniform. The math major in me loves math nerd Eric from Subtract the Heart by s.meadows. And of course, I'd fly the friendly skies with Pilot Eric.
If you met Askars what would you do?
Cry or shit my pants. ROFL!! No, I'd probably be dumbfounded, at a total loss for words. I'm pretty good with the one liners and the jokes in my fanfiction, but not so good with words on the spot. In all likelihood, I'd smile and beg for a picture. Then freak out once he was out of earshot.
ROFL Okay next question.
What is one thing that you wish that Sookie would do in the coming season of TB?
I want her to grow a brain and a backbone. And have lots of sex with Eric, if only to encourage Askars to be naked.
FUX. So do I.
Which character are you most looking forward to seeing on screen in TB? And why?
Oh, I have a soft spot for Alcide. It doesn't hurt that the actor playing him, Joe Manganiello, is a total hottie. I love the dynamic between Alcide and Sookie and wish that Charlaine Harris had explored it a little more.
You already made a writer Eric and Danger is kind of based on Eric as well so I guess detective Eric as well, there is Pilot E and Actor E.
NOW If you were to give Eric another profession what would it be?
I'll give a little teaser of what's to come with my next story after Dixie wraps up. Eric is thrown into the glamorous world of dog handling!! I like the idea of Eric being an every man, not some idolized figure like an actor or famous author.
How do channel the HOT STEAMY sex scene you write?
I write what I know. Not to overshare, something I'm notorious for doing, but I base the sex scenes off of my own adventures with my boyfriend. When we first started dating, we were at separate colleges 200 miles apart, so we got used to typing out what we were feeling. Writing sex feels very natural to me. I'll also disclose here something that very few people know; a lot of the one liners that come out of Pilot E's mouth are from the twisted brain of my boyfriend.
What do u prefer as the perfect place for Eric and Sookie to consummate?
I love kitchen sex. But I'm a purest at heart, and love a good old fashioned love scene in their bed.
Do you have any SVM rec’s for the readers that you think they should check out?
Hardest thing to do is to recommend a few stories. I remember when I was confessing on Sapfirerose's site I had a list of over twenty stories that I absolutely love and had to narrow down! I'm going to try and offer a few that are my favorites, but that list is incredibly long. Let's just say go to my fanfiction.net profile for the list of 100+ stories I consider my favorite.
An oldie but goodie is the Let Love In saga by Terri Botta. There are a long list of side stories that connect. She's created a beautiful world within the SVM universe. Her characters feel almost real, they are deep and emotional. In the current piece, Hope Is A Thing With Feathers, Sookie and Eric have just become the proud parents to twins. The stories really are some of the best written fanfiction, ever. There's a reason everyone says her work is what got them hooked on fanfiction.
Healing Blood by BellaWriter7 is my favorite angst fest. Normally, I'm not the biggest angst reader. I can handle a little angst in a story, but mostly like it light. This epic fic examines the psychological after effects of the fairies attack on Sookie at the end of Dead and Gone. She's deeply scarred and a total mess. Eric tries to help in every way. It's very romantic and emotionally moving. Plus, the smut is amazing.
One more or I'll recommend every story I've ever read!!
The FStop by pixiegiggles started off as this lighthearted story that had be laughing out loud constantly. Towards the end, out of no where, this huge storm of angst appeared and blew me away! It was completely unexpected, yet fit in perfectly with the rest of the story. Pix has such an amazing way with words. It totally floored me when she told me that she's not a native English speaker! She has an immense talent for capturing dialogue and internal stream of thought in a way that doesn't seem forced. It just completed, and a sequel is in the works. I'm excited for more!
Anything else you would like to add?
I want to say that I have never found a group of people as supportive or amazing as the SVM ladies, be they readers or writers. There is always someone there with a kind word, a dirty joke, or a digital hug when I need it. There's always someone willing to chat out a writer's block or make fun of mean reviewers. When I was a newbie and completely terrified, they left the kindest reviews encouraging me to continue. I try to do that now with new writers; let them know that we're not a bunch of meanies. We get that writing fanfiction is a hobby, no one expects the next great novel to be posted. These stories are meant to be fun and an escape from reality for a little bit.
I also need to add a tremendous shout out to my beta, chiisai-kitty. She has been with me since the second chapter of Dame, beta-ing everything I've ever written. When I'm feeling down, she has an encouraging word. When I hate my chapter, she tells me why it sucks and how to fix it. She puts up with my constant confusion of common verbs without too much razzing. Okay, there's a lot of razzing, but it's all out of love. My stories would be crap without her! She's the best!
